Overall: A fairly solid sequel, but it’s not extraordinary. That said, the characters are still relatively weak and not very interesting. I won’t say much more since that’d be spoiler territory, but this volume does end in a pretty surprising way.Ĭharacters: We get to meet a few new characters, but my favorite is Orielle. So, you can imagine the poop storms he has had to deal with recently. Still it picks up almost immediately after the ending of the first volume and covers some major revelations that Alex and his party have to overcome in order to succeed. Alexs life was fairly simple, work during the day and enjoy some sweet RPGs by night. His day job is as a VP for a network security company (not a small one). This volume of “Growth Hero” still isn’t a great story, but it isn’t terrible either. Plot: The plot is a bit better in this entry, mainly because the main character Alex Augere isn’t constantly comparing things to games and novels from his past like in the first entry.
